In Grades 11 and 12, students can enhance their Ontario Secondary School Diploma pathway with Advanced Placement (AP) courses that extend and deepen the Ontario curriculum, allowing them to tailor their studies to their academic goals and university aspirations. AP courses, offered by the College Board, are equivalent to first-year university courses and students who earn qualifying scores on AP exams may receive university credit or advanced standing.
AP English Language and Composition centres on developing and refining students’ skills in evidence‑based analytical and argumentative writing. At Lynn‑Rose, students practice rhetorical analysis of a wide range of nonfiction texts and examine the choices writers make as they compose and revise.
Learners evaluate, synthesize and correctly cite research to support their arguments, while analyzing rhetorical strategies and their effects in written texts and visual media from varied disciplines and historical periods.
College course equivalentThis course aligns with an introductory college‑level rhetoric and writing curriculum, preparing students for the demands of university‑level academic writing.
AP Calculus AB and AP Calculus BC develop a deep, conceptual understanding of calculus and extensive experience with its methods and applications. At Lynn‑Rose, both courses are structured around the big ideas of calculus - such as modelling change, approximation and limits and the analyzis of functions - so that students see calculus as a connected whole rather than as isolated topics.
College course equivalent
AP Biology is an introductory college‑level biology course in which students deepen their understanding of living systems through inquiry‑based investigations. At Lynn‑Rose, students explore key themes such as evolution, cellular processes, energy and communication, genetics and information transfer, ecology and interactions among organisms and their environments.
College course equivalentAP Biology is equivalent to a two‑semester introductory biology course for biology majors at university.
Laboratory focusAt least 25% of instructional time is dedicated to hands‑on, inquiry‑based lab work, giving students regular opportunities to apply scientific practices, analyse data, and communicate their findings.
AP Chemistry provides a rigorous, college‑level foundation in chemistry to support future advanced study in the sciences. Students at Lynn‑Rose build their understanding through inquiry‑based investigations into atomic structure, intermolecular forces and bonding, chemical reactions, kinetics, thermodynamics and equilibrium.
College course equivalentAP Chemistry mirrors a first‑year general chemistry course typically taken in the first year of university.
Laboratory focusA minimum of 25% of the course is spent on lab investigations, including at least 16 hands‑on labs (with six or more inquiry‑based). Students are encouraged to maintain a lab notebook to document procedures, results and reflections.
AP Physics is a college‑level, algebra‑based course that introduces students to the core principles of mechanics, waves and electricity. Through conceptual work, quantitative problem‑solving and regular hands‑on labs, students learn to model real‑world physical situations and build strong preparation for further study in physics and engineering.
College course equivalentAP Physics is equivalent to a first‑year, algebra‑based university physics course typically required for science and STEM‑related programs.

In Secondary School, students achieve at a high level by preparing for Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) exams within a rigorous, inquiry‑driven curriculum, supported by small class sizes that let them deepen their knowledge.
Students who join Advanced Placement (AP) courses must hold at least 80% in the subject. They follow a more demanding pathway while remaining co‑seated with OSSD classmates and they receive extra study hall sessions with their subject teacher plus access to online resources. AP exam results currently cover only one year of completed exams, with scores released in the summer.
Progress is tracked through ongoing assessments, exams and portfolio reviews and achievements are celebrated through honour roll, awards and public recognition in school assemblies, so each student’s growth is visible and valued.
In Secondary School, students at Lynn-Rose sharpen the life competencies they need for university and beyond – including leadership, research, global citizenship, critical thinking, collaboration and mentorship.
AP students work within the same co-seated classes as their OSSD peers but follow a more rigorous pathway. They manage heavier academic expectations, use additional study hall time with subject teachers and tap into enhanced online resources. This extra stretch builds confidence, resilience and independence, helping them take greater ownership of their learning and engage more thoughtfully with their communities.
Multilingualism is intentionally fostered throughout the school and continues into Secondary School, building on a strong base where French begins in Junior Kindergarten and is enriched through exchanges and cultural events that encourage confident bilingualism.
As part of the International Schools Partnership, Lynn-Rose students also take part in virtual exchanges with peers around the world, broadening intercultural understanding and empathy. Whole‑school celebrations such as Black History Month and Asian Heritage Month further strengthen the diversity of the community and deepen cultural awareness for senior students as they prepare for life beyond school.
Lynn‑Rose offers a wide array of international program, competitions and enrichment opportunities that take learning far beyond the Secondary School classroom. Through ISP initiatives such as ISP Filmmakers, ISP Artists, Chess Master, STEAM Challenges, as well as Model United Nations (MUN), HOSA and DECA, students sharpen their creativity, critical thinking, problem‑solving and communication skills in real, globally connected contexts.
Multiple field trips and overnight experiences in Grades 11 and 12 further complement academic study, with recent highlights including the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair, the HOSA Spring Leadership Conference, Toronto Model UN, a Raptors game, a multi-day Montreal trip and a dedicated Grade 12 graduation trip, giving senior students valuable real-world, cultural and pre-university experiences.
Lynn-Rose School offers tailored life and career pathway guidance that aligns closely with students’ AP and university ambitions. Dedicated guidance counselling, structured orientation to Secondary School and AP pathways, career exploration workshops, and an annual Career Day help students connect their academic choices to future goals.
The Further Pathways program, together with regular visits from university representatives, gives learners firsthand insight into global post-secondary routes, supporting them to identify their strengths, understand AP’s role in competitive university admissions and confidently plan their next steps beyond school.
Advanced Mathematics Program
Our Advanced Mathematics Program is recognized by College Board and Siemens and challenges students with university-level courses including Multivariable Calculus, Differential Equations, Linear Algebra, Discrete Mathematics, Number Theory, Complex Analysis and Abstract Algebra. Participation in this rigorous curriculum challenges students intellectually, deepens their passion for mathematics and cultivates advanced critical thinking and problem solving skills typically encountered only at the collegiate level. As a result, graduates of the program are exceptionally well-prepared to excel, not only in mathematics, but in all their classes at the nation’s most selective universities.
Robotics Program
At our American High School Curriculum, students get hands-on with robotics, turning big ideas into real-world solutions. They design, build and program robots using advanced hardware and software, working side by side with professional engineers. Every project is a team effort, fueling the passion behind the Huskyteers, our internationally recognized robotics teams. Students step up at global competitions, solve tough challenges and grow in confidence with every build. Robotics students qualify for more than $80 million in college scholarships from 200 universities.
The first two years of high-school at Lynn-Rose together was an amazing experience. After nine years of growing and learning in the sister school, Rowntree, I joined Lynn-Rose. I came to Lynn-Rose to start high school, and it was there that I found a warm, strongly supportive environment. What I describe here is just not a slogan; it is, in fact, the community living in Lynn-Rose.
Joshua, Student
This is a school where the administration guides the students in making real decisions concerning leadership and responsibility. The administration's faith in us through numerous opportunities for meaningful tasks has enabled me to become the Head of the Model UN Club, the Prime Minister of the Student Council, and the Vice President of HOSA. The positions I hold are a reflection of the tools this school has given me. As a current 11th grader, I am certain that Lynn-Rose is an excellent school environment that cares for its students and fosters a positive, uplifting community. It is an environment that not only prepares you for the years ahead of your university life but also moulds your character.
Lynn-Rose graduates progress to leading universities in Canada and around the world, equipped with the qualifications and confidence to thrive in their next steps.
