Growing confident readers, writers and communicators
In our Middle school in Mississauga, students engage with a wide range of texts, from novels and non-fiction to media and poetry, strengthening comprehension and critical thinking. They practise different styles of writing such as essays, reports, narratives and speeches, focusing on structure, voice and accuracy.
Class discussions, presentations and debates help them articulate ideas clearly, listen respectfully and adapt communication for different audiences.
Building strong problem-solvers for every pathway
Students deepen their understanding of number, algebra, geometry and data handling while learning to think logically and solve multi-step problems. They apply mathematical ideas to real-life situations, from budgeting and measurement to interpreting graphs and statistics.
Regular practice with structured questions and open-ended tasks prepares them for exams, higher-level courses and analytical thinking across subjects.
Exploring how the world works through inquiry and experiment
Students investigate biology, chemistry, physics and environmental science through hands-on experiments and inquiry-based projects. They learn to ask meaningful questions, design fair tests, collect and analyse data, and communicate findings clearly.
By linking scientific ideas to everyday life and global challenges, they build curiosity, resilience and confidence in approaching complex problems with a scientific mindset.
Encouraging creativity, confidence and self-expression
In the Arts, students explore visual art, music and performance to discover their creative voice. They experiment with different materials, techniques and styles, learning how to plan, refine and present their work.
Whether drawing, composing, acting or performing, they develop focus, collaboration and the confidence to share ideas, while appreciating how creativity enriches cultures and future pathways.
Developing smart, responsible users and creators of technology
Students build practical skills in coding, digital tools and online research so they can use technology confidently and creatively. They learn to plan and build simple programs, create digital media and manage information effectively.
Lessons highlight digital citizenship, including online safety, privacy and respectful communication, preparing students for further study and a fast-changing digital world.
Shaping principled, confident and globally aware young people
Global & Personal Development helps students understand themselves and their role in the world. They explore themes such as leadership, ethics, identity and intercultural understanding, often linked to community or international projects.
Reflection activities support goal-setting and self-awareness. By discussing real-world issues and practising empathy and responsibility, students grow as caring, principled global citizens.
Understanding people, places and the forces that shape our world
Social Studies helps students connect History, Geography and Civics to their own lives. They explore societies and cultures, examine maps and environments, and learn how governments and global systems function.
Through research projects, case studies and current events, students evaluate sources, consider multiple perspectives and develop informed opinions about local and international issues.
Building real-world digital skills through coding, creativity and collaboration
Students take part in weekly computer science workshops where they are introduced to the foundations of web development using HTML and CSS. They apply these skills in interdisciplinary projects linked to math and English, such as designing formula reference websites, recreating themes and settings from novels, and building personal résumé sites that showcase their strengths and achievements.
This year, the program is expanding to include Python, enabling students to begin solving mathematical problems and simple real-world challenges through coding.
Beyond the classroom, coding and robotics clubs offer additional hands-on opportunities to experiment, design and problem-solve, helping students develop practical digital skills, creativity and an early interest in computer science and STEAM pathways.
Building healthy bodies, strong minds and positive habits
Physical Education keeps students active through team sports, individual fitness and skill-building activities. They develop coordination, strength, endurance and fair play while practising teamwork and sportsmanship.
Health lessons explore topics such as nutrition, mental well-being, healthy relationships and safe choices. Together, PE and Health help students understand how to care for their physical and emotional wellness.

Achievement is recognised through honour roll, leadership and Learner Profile awards, certificates of achievement and public celebrations in school assemblies, highlighting both academic excellence and personal development.
Students also prepare for structured exams and complete student-driven projects so they can demonstrate not only what they know, but how they think, create and apply their learning across subjects.
At this stage, students at Lynn-Rose School deepen essential life competencies closely linked to the IB MYP Learner Profile. Through inquiry projects, leadership roles and collaborative work, they grow as confident communicators, principled and caring community members, open-minded collaborators and resilient risk-takers.
They also strengthen digital fluency, self-management and reflection, learning to balance their academic, social and emotional well-being while applying their skills to real-world contexts beyond the classroom.
Multilingualism at Lynn-Rose begins with early French language learning from Junior Kindergarten, going beyond provincial requirements.
Cultural events, international exchanges and celebrations such as Black History Month and Asian Heritage nurture communication skills, intercultural understanding, empathy and community diversity, supporting IB MYP learner profile attributes and life competencies such as collaboration, critical thinking and global citizenship.
Lynn-Rose School offers rich international opportunities through ISP programs such as ISP Filmmakers, ISP Artists, Chess Masters, STEAM Challenges, Model UN, HOSA and DECA, alongside multiple field and overnight trips each year that extend classroom learning into real-world contexts and build creativity, critical thinking, problem-solving, communication skills and cultural and global awareness.
