IB Diploma Programme

Students at Lynn-Rose School benefit from a strong international learning environment, with the school preparing to relaunch its two-year IB Diploma Programme (DP) for Grades 11 and 12 in Fall 2027.

Lynn-Rose is a Candidate School* for the IB Diploma Programme. This school is pursuing authorization as an IB World School. These are schools that share a common philosophy - a commitment to high quality, challenging, international education that Lynn-Rose believes is important for our students.

Our curriculum

The IB Diploma Programme is designed for learners who want to push further academically, personally and globally, continuing the inquiry and leadership built in PYP and MYP.

Each learner chooses six subjects (three Higher, three Standard) and completes three core components that foster originality, resilience and big-picture thinking.

At our IB school in Mississauga, the DP is tailored to ambitious learners with diverse strengths and clear post-secondary goals.

Core Elements

All IB students complete three core elements that deepen thinking, question assumptions and grow independence:

  • Theory of Knowledge (TOK)
Explores how we construct knowledge across disciplines, cultures and belief systems
  • Extended Essay (EE)
A 4,000-word independent research project on a chosen topic, mirroring university-level study
  • Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS)
Student-led experiences that blend creativity, physical activity and service, from media projects to community initiatives
Core Elements

Subject Groups

Students choose one subject from each IB group:

  • Language & Literature – Advanced study of texts, analytical writing and cultural perspectives
  • Language Acquisition – Real-world communication in an additional language offered for both beginners and advanced learners
  • Individuals & Societies – Subjects such as global politics and psychology, using research, data and theory to understand people, systems and communities
  • Sciences – Biology, chemistry, physics or environmental systems, with a focus on hypothesising, experimenting and applying scientific evidence
  • Mathematics – Different routes to suit student interests, from pure to applied maths, all grounded in logic, data and problem-solving
  • The Arts – Visual arts, music or theatre, where students create, perform and critique—or choose another academic subject instead
